Rainwater harvesting for urban gardeners
Location: San Francisco
Participants will divert a rainwater downspout to fill a 660 gallon rainwater-harvesting system by linking recycled barrels together.
An hour long lecture will teach how to design viable and site-appropriate systems that integrate rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling, and water conservation in urban gardens. It will focus on how simple, low-cost rainwater catchment systems can:
*reduce stormwater runoff and sewage overflows
*recharge aquifers
*increase your backyard harvest
*lower your water bill
The workshop site has a greywater system that was installed during a previous Greywater Action workshop. We will do a walk through and see how the new rain-catchment system integrates with the existing greywater irrigation system.
Cost: 30-$100 sliding scale

Facilitators Tara Hui and Christina Bertea have installed many successful rainwater and greywater systems in and around San Francisco both in their own homes as well as during workshops they have taught.
